Fire Dampers

A fire damper is installed where a duct passes through a fire-rated wall or floor. In a fire the damper closes and stops flames and smoke from spreading through the ductwork to other parts of the building.

How it works

In normal operation the damper is open and air flows freely. When it receives a signal — from the fire alarm or a rise in temperature — the actuator closes the damper.

A damper with an electric actuator connects to the building’s fire safety system, which allows it to be controlled remotely and its position to be monitored.

What we make

  • Rectangular fire dampers
  • Round fire dampers
  • Dampers with electric actuators
  • Any size — to match the duct cross-section

Selection by project

The damper’s fire-resistance class and actuator type are set by the fire safety design. Send us the specification and we will propose a matching solution. How dampers work and where they go is explained in our article.

Frequently asked questions

Where should a fire damper be installed?

Where the duct passes through a fire barrier — a wall or floor. The exact locations and class are defined by the fire safety design.
